| HAWAII
LOOKS TO 2010 AND OWN 100TH ANNIVERSARY |
| Amazingly,
the first airplane flight in Hawaii was
only seven years after the Wright Brothers
first demonstrated aerodynamically
controlled, powered flight at Kitty Hawk,
North Carolina. It was on December 31,
1910 that the fearless J. C."Bud"
Mars took off, circled and landed his
Curtis P18 biplane at the Moanalua Polo
Field near Honolulu. |
| The
Hawaii Aviation Celebration was held
December 13 and 14, 2003 at the former
Barbers Point Naval Air Station, now
Kalaeloa Airport near the west Oahu city
of Kapolei.
The Hawaii
Aviation Celebration brought together for
the first time many people from different
community interests to recognize and
support aviation. In seven years, December
2010, aviation leaders in Hawaii are
looking forward to celebrating 100 years
of flying in Hawaii. |
