We couldn't believe it,
either!
The snow that hit the
Outer Banks during the last part of January provided a
few challenges -- and an opportunity to
"glide" down Big Kill Devil Hill!

A Tribute to
Tuskegee Airmen
This ground-breaking flying unit will be honored for
their contributions to aviation history with an exhibit
and special programming this month at Wright Brothers
National Memorial.
On February 21 and 22, we
will host special activities for the young and the young
at heart to bring to life this story of overcoming
obstacles to participate in aviation.
Thank you to RBC Centura
for their contribution to make possible these
activities.
If you can't make it to
Kill Devil Hills this month to take part, you might want
to test your knowledge of African-American contributions
to our aviation history with the Trivia Challenge.

North
Carolina Artist Marsha Mills Joins the Celebration
In the early 1990s, North Carolina native Marsha Mills'
portrait of the Wright Monument was a fixture on Capitol
Hill. Limited edition fine art Giclée prints of this
work are now available. To order, call 910/326-2600 or order
online.
Mills rendered the
dry-brush watercolor landscape in 1987 at the request of
the National Park Academy of the Arts. From a pool of
2,300 art pieces, Mills' watercolor was one of 20
selected to tour the United States in 1988. Mills'
landscapes, portraits and animal portraits are quickly
gaining her international recognition. Mills studied art
at East Carolina University, Campbell University, and
the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. The
Wright Monument sits atop Big Kill Devil Hill. Through
the efforts of the Foundation, the monument was restored
and re-dedicated in May 1998 when its beacon, which had
not shone since WWII, was re-lighted.
