TICKETING
UPDATE |
Tickets
for the Celebration will be available in mid-April.
"As soon as approvals are finalized and the
ticketing system in place, information on purchase
options will be distributed to the public through media
outlets and First Flight Centennial websites,"
according to Lawrence A. Belli, Superintendent, Outer
Banks Group, National Park Service. Advanced ticketing
is needed to help determine requirements of
infrastructure management, such as parking,
transportation and security.
Individual one-day tickets will be $10 per day, or a
five-day package for $25. Children under 12 are free.
Senior citizens and disabled individuals may purchase a
daily ticket for $5 each, or a five-day package for $20.
All tickets are general admission.
Centennial
Circle members will not require an additional ticket for
general admission for the member and a guest. To learn

Women Fly!
The National Park Service will hold a tribute to female
aviation pioneers March 13-16, 2003 at Wright Brothers
National Memorial.
Expected participants
include famed aerobatic pilot Patty Wagstaff, members of
the military, female graduates of the Wright Flight
program, aviation artists, female aircraft mechanics,
members of the Women Air Service Pilots (WASP)
organization and private and commercial pilots from all
fields.
Other activities include

Girl Scouts can interact with female aviation pioneers
and explore exhibits. That evening, The Outer Banks
Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours at
the park's Visitor Center, and Ghost Fleet Gallery will

Pavilion
Progress |
Work on the
First Flight Centennial Pavilion is progressing well.
The site work has been
completed, and the structure will begin going up this
week. The Pavilion will open in late May, to begin
serving an anticipated 4 million visitors.
The Pavilion is the
single largest First Flight Centennial project, with a
total budget of nearly $2 million. We are grateful to
the First Flight Centennial sponsors who are funding
this critical resource, including Northrop Grumman,
American Airlines, Bank of America, BB&T Charitable
Foundation, Bombardier, Curtiss-Wright Corporation,
FedEx Corporation, Gulfstream, Sprint, and others.
Contributions from First Flight Centennial sponsors and
donors will be matched by our U.S. Mint Commemorative
Coin program, and invested in the legacy of the
Celebration -- a better Wright Brothers National
Memorial.

Calling
All Volunteers!
The original
First Flight volunteers were the men of the U.S.
Lifesaving Service who helped the Wright brothers with
their flights at the turn of the century. The Kitty Hawk
station and surfmen circa 1903 is pictured at left
(photo courtesy U.S. Coast Guard archives).
Now, it's your turn!
The First Flight Centennial Celebration Volunteer
Application is now available on-line. First Flight
Centennial volunteers must be willing to work the entire
Celebration from December 12 - 17, 2003 and to attend a
mandatory training. All applicants must have a criminal
background check and a driver’s license check.
To access and print the
Volunteer Application, click
here.
|
Please note that only
completed Volunteer Applications can be reviewed. We
will need a cover letter stating your interest in
volunteering, a completed and signed Volunteer
Application and a resume. Due to the large number of
applications, we cannot confirm the receipt of an
application package. Successful applicants will be
notified by August 2003.
If you have trouble
opening the Volunteer Application, or would like to
request that a form be mailed or faxed to you, please
call 252-995-6018 or e-mail Maggie
