Thanks to Dr. Thomas C. Parramore's "First to Fly" for inspiration and
material. This book may be ordered now, and will be available in
bookstores in early 2003.

Upcoming trivia challenges will feature firsts in black aviation history
and women in aviation.

North Carolina Artist Marsha Mills Joins the Celebration
In the early 1990s, North Carolina native Marsha Mills' portrait of the Wright Monument was a fixture on Capitol Hill. Limited edition fine art Giclée prints of this work are now available. To order, call 910/326-2600 or order online.

Mills rendered the dry-brush watercolor landscape in 1987 at the request of the National Park Academy of the Arts. From a pool of 2,300 art pieces, Mills' watercolor was one of 20 selected to tour the United States in 1988. Mills' landscapes, portraits and animal portraits are quickly gaining her international recognition. Mills studied art at East Carolina University, Campbell University, and the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. The Wright Monument sits atop Big Kill Devil Hill. Through the efforts of the Foundation, the monument was restored and re-dedicated in May 1998 when its beacon, which had not shone since WWII, was re-lighted.
