This month: Pushing the Limits: Aviation Flight Research
as seen through the NASA Art Program opens at the Outer
Banks History Center Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival
Park in Manteo, NC. The exhibit will open September 1
and continue through December 31, 2003. Sponsored by
GlaxoSmithKline. Open seven days a week, hours change

20: National Air Tour visits Wright Brothers National
Memorial. Beginning at 10:00 am, an anticipated 25
historic aircraft, including large transport tri-motors,
flying boats and open-cockpit biplanes from the 1920s
and ‘30s, will be on public display around the base of
Big Kill Devil Hill. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to

nation's largest flight-related contemporary art exhibit.

ICARUS International Monument to a Century of Flight
Ribbon Cutting (changed from September 27, please know
that there was no damage to the installation or the site
from Hurricane Isabel). Join us to officially open this

100 Works presented by Icarus International December 1
– 31 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Festival Park Art Gallery.
Heralding the connection between creativity and
invention, one hundred works of flight inspired art will
fill the Festival Park Art Gallery. An opening reception
will be held on Sunday, December 7 from 4 – 6 p.m. For

4: The Wrights of
Passage with David zum Brunnen. Three shows - 10 am, 1
pm and 7:30 pm. The Film Theatre at Roanoke Island
Festival Park in Manteo, NC. zum Brunnen will
construct the Wright Flyer on stage and tell the story
of the Wright Brothers. Sponsored by the Dare County
Board of Commissioners, the event and is free and open
to the public.

Forum for the Lively Arts celebrates First Flight
Centennial by presenting Jim Walker and "Free
Flight". From Bach to Beethoven to Miles Davis to
the Beatles: the leading flute in Hollywood! Performance
is Saturday, December 6 at 7:30pm at Kitty Hawk
